We are working with Michelle from Grounds for Change and Keith from the CBE to create a Naturalization area beginning the school year of 2017-2018. We are hoping to bring children's appreciation of nature one step further. As a group in the Nellie's Naturalists Nellie U course, we are going to make mini models of what we would like the naturalization area to look like. Then we will talk to Keith about the budget and what he thinks is possible. There is a school garden naturalization committee that has been working to get this started!
School letter - sent May 31, 2017.
Get ready Nellie gardeners! Our Nellie Schoolyard Naturalization Project is getting off the ground in the 2017-2018 school year. Our committee has been dreaming and scheming for months and we are so excited to share our ideas and plans for an outdoor exploratory and play-centered nature area and garden.
We are hoping to start designing the space in the fall of 2017. We will need the help, support and enthusiasm of our parent and volunteer community to really make this space reach it's full potential. We would like to encourage everyone to stop by our display case in the school's front lobby and to dream along with us!
Stay tuned for updates and please email us at [email protected] if you would like to discuss how you can help with ideas, fundraising, grant applications or landscaping expertise.
Your school naturalization committee,

UPDATE: 2018-2019 We have paused moving forward with our Naturalization Area school wide project. We are waiting for a group of highly interested and enthusiastic parents who will bring their passion and time to commit to helping with grant writing and fundraising efforts.
