A small group of six dedicated Nellie's Naturalists were invited to become part of our school Eco Leader team. In January, we went to Ralph Klein Park to participate in a full day conference going to different workshops. We met other students from other schools and learned key skills to help us with our Living Lab project.
As Eco Leaders (a dedicated group presenting at the Mayor’s Environment Expo), we will contribute to environmental solutions that have a positive impact in our community while gaining eco-literacy and eco-leadership skills. Students develop lifelong, transferable skills in leadership, innovation, teamwork and critical thinking and apply these to projects of our design. Our project this year is the Living lab at our school.
On June 7, 2017, we will present our project at the Mayor's Environment Expo. We hope we get to meet Mayor Nenshi!
UPDATE: The students did an outstanding job representing Nellie McClung School at the Mayor's Environment Expo. Not only did they present to other schools and the public, they also presented our projects to Mayor Nenshi and one of our students was interviewed for an article printed the following day in The Metro News!
